Three sessions to dive fully into your watercolour! If you are a beginner, it's a chance to get a small painting started, and perhaps finished. If you are more experienced, it's a wonderful time to get guidance working through a painting you've already started, or wish to begin. Some watercolour experience is recommended for this workshop.

Other Things to Know:
1. There will be a tea and snack provided on the Friday night and tea/coffee and snack provided on Saturday. You will need to bring a packed lunch for the full day Saturday.

2. It's best to have a painting drawn out so that all your time can be spent on the painting. If you have difficulty with your drawing, getting help on the Friday would be perfectly fine. Sometimes life challenges our time boundaries, so if you haven't got it drawn out ahead of time, come anyway! Time, calm and help await you here.

3. Bring your own subject material, resources and supplies.

4. Bring lots of enthusiasm and energy. You will be working hard while you're here.

Creative Journaling

“An Illustrated Life ~ Opening into an Artist's Journal”
Date: Saturday, September 24
Times: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Cost: $85

This workshop is #8 in the series of journal workshops, although it can completely stand on its own with no previous journal workshopping required. MOST IMPORTANTLY, you DO NOT have to be artistic in any way to participate. If you are, that's wonderful too, and your creative expression will be explored in new ways. We will play with different artistic techniques for expressing thoughts, observations, experiences, and feelings using a variety of art mediums, working outdoors as well as inside the studio. One of the main focuses for the day will be to connect with our spontaneous selves and find ways to express this spontaneity without the interruption of thinking and critiquing. The day will invite us into playing with colour, form, and line. I look forward to diving into all the activities along with you. More details about the day will come your way once you register.

*You will need to bring a packed lunch. Mid-morning coffee, tea, and snack will be provided.

"Writing Into Your Life"
Date: Friday, October 21
Times: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Cost: $85

This workshop is #9 in the series of creative journal workshops, but can stand on its own if you have taken no previous journal workshops with me before. This workshop will be bookended with visual activities to create a 'book-within-a-book'. Most of the day will be spent learning and practising immediate forms of writing that extend and develop new ways of looking at past experience in order to create future possibilities. These are not literary exercises, though practising them will no doubt bring more originality and fluency to all types of writing that you might be called upon to do. The arty beginning and end of the day will be my main participation in the workshop, although I will be there taking part in the whole day, and there to add little visual bits of play as the day flows. Most written activities will be led by Don Nelson, who has written, taught writing, and studied ways in which writing can expand awareness and lead to new thinking.

*You will need to bring a packed lunch. Mid-morning coffee, tea, and snack will be provided.

***SPECIAL NOTE of another JOURNAL ADVENTURE to come this winter:
I am in the beginning planning stages of a 3-Day Winter Journal Retreat (Friday PM, All day Saturday, and early Sunday AM), and will let you know about that as soon as the ideas finish skipping around in my head. Some wonderful adventures coming into the vision of those days right now. It will be based on 'awakening the self' - eye, mind and heart. Lots more information to come about this one!

For those of you returning to the studio, I look forward to seeing you all again and continuing our creative growth together. For those new to the studio, I look forward to meeting you and exploring new ideas with you.

Directions to the studio will be sent out after all registrations are in. If you have any questions, please email, or give Linda a call @ 604-888-4602.
